![]() A race of sentient robots is created to fight humanity’s wars but rebels against its masters. The golden age of technology soon turns soulless and dark when spirituality is forsaken in the name of scientific advancement (ooh). Psychic mutants known as Navigators are born with the ability to guide human starships across great distances through the Warp (which, incidentally, is home to some pretty nasty creatures). The Dark Age of Technology (M15-M25): Mankind develops astounding technological marvels, and spreads its wings even further across the galaxy after warp drive is discovered. It’s a slow process as the explorers are confined to travelling at sub-light speeds. ![]() The Age of Terra (pre-15th millennium, or M15): Humanity begins its exploration of space in earnest, leaving the planet and colonising world after world. Elsewhere in the galaxy, the Old Ones’ successors, the Eldar, have risen to become the dominant race. Oh, if we only knew what horrors are lurking beyond our contemplation. Now: We look inward a lot and worry about politics, crime, rising costs and whether or not Gangnam Style and Harlem Shake are insidious precursors to a zombie apocalypse. ![]() The “end” result was that one race, the Old Ones, had its power and influence forever shattered while its so-called doomsday weapon forced the other race – the Star Gods and their servants, the Necrontyr – into a 65-million-year slumber.
